Orlando Walk for PKD

The PKD Foundation is holding it's annual fund raising walk to collect funds to use in finding a treatment and cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease.  PKD is one of the most common, life threatening genetic diseases affecting 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million people worldwide.  The Walk, which takes place in over 70 cities across the country, is the PKD Foundations's leading effort to raise the much needed funds to find a cure for PKD.  Please visit www.pkdcure.org for more information.

Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy a family friendly movie on the lawn in front of the tower.  This month enjoy the classic comedy "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein".  This free event is presented by St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Longwood.  Bring the entire family for a fun, free evening together under the stars.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Sorry, no pets are allowed in the Plaza area.

Uptown Altamonte Friday Night Live presents a very special evening with Hall and Oates Saxophonist, Charlie DeChant.  DeChant has been the sax player for multi-platinum recording artists Hall and Oates sinces the bands inception in the 1970s.  This event will feature Charlie in his original Jazz ensemble, "The Kings".  Besides recording and touring with Hall & Oates, DeChant also played with other stars including Mick Jagger, The Temptations, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, and The Average White Band.

Halloween at Cranes Roost

Halloween at Cranes Roost is a community oriented door to door trick-or-treat alternative for kids, sponsored by the City of Altamonte Springs.  The 14th Annual Halloween event features local businesses sponsoring booths to hand out candy and trinkets to an estimated 15,000 kids.  There are costume contests for all ages, inflatable games and live entertainment.  The event kicks off at 5pm with trick-or-treating around Cranes Roost Lake, and live entertainment in the Eddie Rose Amphitheater.  The costume contests begin at 6pm in the Amphitheater with the youngest ages on stage first.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the venue.  No coolers or pets are permitted in the park during this event.  Co-Sponsored by AT&T the Real Yellow Pages, The Altamonte Springs Police Department and MIX 105.
